Learning Something New: A Gentle Approach to Emotional Stress in the Body
One of the things I love about working in this space is that there is always more to learn.
Our bodies are incredibly good at storing and processing the experiences we move through in life, sometimes in ways we’re not even aware of. Stress, trauma, emotions, and significant events can quietly leave their mark on the nervous system and the body over time.
Recently I’ve begun training in something called the EMK protocol, which is a method designed to help identify and release emotional stress that may be held in the body.
While reflexology works beautifully to calm and support the nervous system, the EMK approach looks a little deeper at the connection between emotional experiences and physical responses.
Many people are surprised to discover how often the body holds onto things long after the mind believes it has moved on. Old stress, unresolved experiences, and emotional patterns can sometimes continue influencing how the body feels and responds.
The aim of EMK is to gently identify these areas and support the body in letting them go.
I’m still early in the training process, but it’s already fascinating to see how much the body remembers, and how capable it is of rebalancing when given the right support.
Over the coming months I’ll be learning more about how this work integrates with reflexology and the nervous system, and I’m excited to eventually offer it as another way to support people on their wellbeing journey. I’ll share more as the training progresses.
For now, it’s simply a reminder that the body has an incredible ability to heal and restore when we listen closely to what it’s telling us.
